14 dBi Tuned Directional Antenna (EU 868)

This 14 dBi directional antenna is designed for long-range connections in LoRaWAN, Helium and IoT systems operating in the European 868 MHz band.

It is optimized for maximum forward signal concentration and minimal energy loss in unwanted directions.

Very long-range performance

With a high gain of 14 dBi, this antenna enables communication over very long distances, especially in environments with good radio visibility.

This makes it suitable for professional and industrial deployments where range is a key requirement.

Narrow and focused beam

Unlike omnidirectional antennas, this flat panel design concentrates RF energy into a defined forward beam.

The beamwidth is typically around 30° in both azimuth and elevation, allowing precise targeting of a selected area.

This significantly improves signal strength in the desired direction while reducing interference from other directions.

Adjustable direction and tilt

The antenna can be adjusted in both azimuth and elevation.

This allows precise alignment of the beam toward the target area, which is essential for achieving maximum performance in long-distance links.

Practical applications

  • long-distance communication links,
  • building installations where signal should be directed forward,
  • locations with terrain obstacles such as hills or large structures,
  • coastal deployments where coverage is required only in one direction,
  • targeted coverage of specific sectors or remote areas.

Improved SNR and signal quality

Directional antennas inherently provide higher SNR compared to omnidirectional antennas of similar gain.

This results in more stable connections and improved reliability in real-world conditions.

Frequency band and applications

The antenna operates in the European license-free band (863–870 MHz) and is designed for:

  • LoRaWAN and Helium networks,
  • IoT and M2M systems,
  • telemetry and sensor networks,
  • tracking and monitoring systems,
  • industrial and infrastructure applications.

Installation and grounding

The antenna housing is grounded to protect against electrostatic discharge.

For safe operation, the antenna and mounting structure must be connected to a proper grounding system.

The grounding conductor should be as short as possible and directly connected to the earth system.

For additional protection, the use of a gas lightning arrester is recommended.
